A German manufacturer of pharmaceuticals required a new production plant to be built. Together with the end customer, the responsible general contractor decided to use SDF sensors for various production control applications.
For optimum production, it was required to monitor the individual volume flows (e.g., in stirring tanks) as well as to monitor the entire exhaust air volume. Due to the substances that are processed in production, individual measurements in the Ex area are required for monitoring explosion-protected extraction systems.
The end customer already had many years of positive experience with SDF sensors from S.K.I. at various locations. Therefore, they preferred to retain the measuring principle and S.K.I. as the solution provider for flow measurement. Working closely with the customer, S.K.I. was able to precisely meet the customer's measuring needs during the design stage. Additionally, S.K.I. supported the general contractor from the planning phase to the final commissioning and handover to the end customer. The project manager expressed his gratitude that "excellent support and problem-free handling" had made "precise volume flow monitoring and evaluation" a reality.
Conclusion: SDF sensors enabled reliable and accurate volume flow monitoring at relatively low cost, even with low differential pressures. The simple on-site settings without additional special hardware and tools were particularly convincing for the customer and contractor. Due to the robust and flexible design, a precise volume flow monitoring and evaluation was implemented for various applications in ex- and non-explosion areas. The end customers and planners were particularly satisfied with the excellent support and smooth handling.
